Meet a Local Mom!

By Jennifer, Macaroni Mom February 16, 2016

~~~ Meet Jennifer~~~
How many children?  What are their ages?
I have four children, ages 24, 15, 11, 6.
Besides being a super hero (aka mommy), what else do you do?
I am the director of Wesley Preschool and Play Care in Dover. I also work part-time for Renaissance builders LLC.  I enjoy gardening, church activities, playing with my grandbabies and watching my children participate in horseback riding, swimming, cross country and track events.
Where do you live?
I have lived in Delaware all my life.  I reside with my husband in Felton with three of  four children.
Favorite local family activities or events?
I enjoy being at home with my family when we are not participating in the many hobbies the children have.  Over the years I have loved the Air Base museum, the Delaware State Fair, Delaware beaches such as Lewes, Bowers and Rehoboth, the Salisbury Zoo, and Parent as Teachers Playgroups.
Greatest successes of motherhood?
Being places on time, having 8 hours of sleep at night, cooking meals when I can, having a clean house when possible, and showering every day are the top of my list!  It truly is the little things that make motherhood amazing.  When my kids kiss me goodnight, when I get to know something unique about one of my child, when they talk about their day, when they get to do the things they love.
Greatest challenge in motherhood?  How did you overcome this challenge?
I became a mom at the age of 16.  Completing high school and college while working and parenting was one of the greatest challenges.  I relied on the support of friends and family during that time.  I continue to be challenged everyday by juggling work, being a wife and mom, while trying to be the best at all.  I rely on faith to get me through days that I feel defeated and thank God for the successful days.
Surprise us!
I have been a mommy for 25 years this April.  I’ve had a job since I was 15.  I have been hit by a car, been divorced, made honors in college, held two jobs most of my working life, had my kidney removed, had four babies naturally without pain medication, and know that every mom has an amazing story to share.  It helps me to remember to enjoy the little things and to be thankful for every little accomplishment, even if it’s just washing the dishes.  Remember your kids think you are the best mommy in the world!
Dunkin’ or Starbucks? Neither really – I don’t drink coffee but my kids would say Dunkin for the donuts.
Beach or mountains? I love the beach.
City or country? Country, as much as it pains me to say after growing up on a farm and wanting desperately to get away from that.  It is always nice to see my children enjoy farm life.
Skis or snowboard? Tubing is safer at my age now. J
Celebrity crush?  I don’t really follow that stuff but Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt aren’t so bad.
What websites do you think we should check out and why?
Check out the Wesley Preschool and Play Care website!  This organization has been serving families in our community for over 40 years.  It’s a great place to be.  Also, Renaissance Builders because they’re local high quality builders specializing in Green homes.
Publisher's Note:
This was so much fun to read, Jen!  This confirms the fact that we all connect with each other as moms, but there are so many fun little pieces to the ladies behind the moms.  Thank you!  Can't wait to check out your websites.
