What's up in July?

By Bethany, Macaroni Kid Dover - Milford - Smyrna Publisher July 5, 2017

Hey, Mac Fams!

Happy July!  Summer is in full swing and we are enjoying all of the simple joys of this season.  Produce is plentiful, pool time has been nice, the beach is buzzing - the energy is nice.  Plus I have more opportunities to eat ice cream in the summertime!

June’s Macaroni Kid Storytime and Ice Cream Social at Tre Sorelle Dolce’s ice cream stand was a HIT!  There were a few pics posted on Facebook here.  There seemed to be a lot of interest in this type of event and it was well attended.  Moms chatted, kids danced, played, and bounced on inflatables sponsored by Bounce Around.  Of course the ice cream treats were just an all around win for everyone!  Wait, I’m picking up on a theme here...

We also have had the pleasure of checking out Capital City Farmers’ Market in Downtown Dover for the last couple of weeks.  It’s such a nice outing for kid entertainment and lunch.  Each week there is a storytime, games, and free kids’ lunches.  In addition to these regular activities, the market hosts more great activities for kids such as yoga, cooking demos, crafts, and special storytime guests.  Today they’re having a super hero costume contest!  There are yummy lunch options from various food vendors and the produce is always top notch.  I love being able about to hear about our food from each farmer first hand.  In our highly digital and convenient world, there’s just something about being able to show my appreciation to each farmer and business by purchasing their goods from them directly.  We love stopping in the local shops in Downtown Dover because there are so many treasures to be found.  I consider these visits a lesson in entrepreneurship and economics for my daughter.  She loves it!  Bonus:  Treats galore around this place!

 Top 5 Picks for July

1.  Capital City Farmers’ Market on Wednesday afternoons

2.  First Friday in Downtown Dover -  They are doing it up this summer!

3.  Live Music at Tre Sorelle Dolce on Saturday nights

4.  Programs in the Park on Wednesday evenings

5.  Music at the Mill - This one was a fun one in June.

Do you enjoy your local Macaroni Kid edition?  Tell people!  Forward your weekly e-newsletter if there's something you want to attend with a mom friend.  Share on social media.  Like the posts.  Thank a local business owner for sponsoring this site.  Tell event coordinators that you saw their event on Macaroni Kid.   This is the way that our local Macaroni Kid edition can continue to be supported!  It is fabulous to see all of the page visits and site clicks, but there's nothing better than people hearing it directly.  Especially me.  If there's something you want to see more of, don't hesitate to send me a message.  I love hearing from readers.

If there is something especially fantastic that you would like for other families to check out, please let me know via the "Submit Event" page.  It's best when Mac Kid readers help connect our community.

New events are continuously added to our calendar and the best way to catch them all is to subscribe to the Macaroni Kid Dover free weekly e-newsletter to have all this kid fun sent directly to your inbox.

Here's wishing you a happy and healthy July!

Best,

Bethany  :)
