Easter Basket Sneak Peek!

What are you Putting in your Child’s Easter Basket this year?

By Kristen VanHekle April 15, 2019

Easter is right around the corner!  April 21st is Easter Day!  Have you starting shopping for your child’s basket yet?  Do you do a basket or get a little more creative?  I have seen others use buckets, rain boots, or even an opened umbrella.  Not matter what you choose, you’ve got to fill it up with goodies!

This year my daughter is 5 (going on 15) years old.  We don’t do a lot of candy or junk food.  Mostly because my child becomes a different person when she has sugar and I’ve got no time for that.  So I choose mostly non edible items for her basket.  I also do not like to give her new toys and such without it being a holiday or being earned, so I tend to go over board with holidays.  I shop for all holidays year round because I am a bargain hunter and like to plan ahead.  I kept it pretty simple this year.  Here are all the goodies she’s getting in her basket.

The hardest part is arranging all these items neatly in her basket without it looking like I just threw it all in there.  Every year I like to stick to a theme for her basket.  Last year it was science, the year before that bugs, and this year it looks like I have a bunny theme going on without even realizing it.

This little guy is cute now but comes with permanent markers for her to color and decorate.  Let’s all take a moment to appreciate what he looks like today.  I found him in the clearance after a Christmas time.

Saw this little guy at Walmart and thought to myself “bunny=Easter” and scooped him right up.  He can walk on his leash and moves or something.  Probably fun.

Play dough filled eggs because everyone loves play dough and there was no way I was going to put jelly beans in them, she’d be up till midnight!

All items recently found in the dollar spot at target.  An Easter basket balance game, stackable crayon, building blocks, chunky note book, coin purse, and little balls with a surprise toy inside.

The only junk food I’m putting in her basket because she needs something to munch on.  If she’s good from now until Easter I may throw in a peep or two. (Does anyone really like those or is it just tradition at this point?)

And the completed basket!  Other items pictured were purchased after Easter last year in the clearance.  I don’t like to use Easter basket filler because it’s usually a mess and because I’m weird about recycling everything.  One time I used an oversized scarf at the bottom and that worked out really nice and was super cute.

I think she will love it!  And I can guarantee she will be most excited about the Cheetos.

What do you like to put in your child’s basket?  What kind of Easter traditions do you and your family have?
